The Solitaire T Pro: Audiophile Performance Meets Modern Versatility

With the new Solitaire T Pro, German high-end audio specialist T+A builds on the foundations of its original Solitaire T, introduced in 2022. The new model retains the core acoustic architecture while upgrading its electronics, wireless capabilities and immersive audio features.

The result is a premium headphone designed for listeners who want more than a conventional Bluetooth model. It combines traditional wired listening, high-quality digital audio, active noise cancellation and spatial audio in a single, carefully engineered product.

Whether enjoying music at home, travelling or watching films, the Solitaire T Pro aims to deliver a versatile listening experience without losing sight of its audiophile ambitions.

A 42 mm cellulose diaphragm for precise sound reproduction

At the heart of the Solitaire T Pro is a 42 mm dynamic driver featuring a cellulose diaphragm. T+A has refined the driver's peripheral damping to help control unwanted reflections and resonances.

The objective is to preserve a natural tonal balance, accurate detail and a convincing presentation across a wide range of musical genres.

The headphone can also operate in passive wired mode, with its electronics switched off. In this configuration, T+A specifies a frequency response of 4 Hz to 45 kHz, compared with 4 Hz to 22 kHz when the electronics are active.

This flexibility will appeal to listeners who appreciate a traditional wired headphone as much as the convenience of modern wireless technology.

Studio Pro mode: A dedicated signal path for demanding listeners

One of the most significant developments is the introduction of Studio Pro mode.

The Solitaire T Pro incorporates an ESS ES9219 Sabre DAC and a dedicated amplification stage. In Studio Pro mode, the digital signal is converted and amplified through this ESS circuit, with active noise cancellation disabled.

T+A also employs analogue volume control in this mode. Unlike digital attenuation, which can reduce the effective bit depth of a digital signal depending on its implementation, analogue volume adjustment avoids that particular form of digital resolution loss.

For listeners who prioritise musical accuracy over additional processing, Studio Pro provides a dedicated listening mode designed around the quality of the audio signal.

Dolby Atmos and head tracking: A more immersive listening experience

The Solitaire T Pro expands beyond conventional stereo listening with Dolby Atmos support and head tracking.

Compatible content can benefit from a more enveloping, three-dimensional presentation, while head tracking adjusts the perceived sound field in response to movements of the listener's head.

This technology is particularly appealing for films, series and compatible music, creating a more spatial presentation through a headphone rather than a physical multichannel speaker system.

The experience depends on the source material and the processing involved, but the addition of spatial audio gives the Solitaire T Pro a broader role in a modern entertainment setup.

Bluetooth 6.0, LDAC and aptX Lossless

Wireless connectivity has also been upgraded. The Solitaire T Pro uses a newer Qualcomm Bluetooth platform, supporting Bluetooth 6.0 and a wider range of audio codecs.

Key features include:

• LDAC: High-bitrate Bluetooth audio transmission.

• aptX Adaptive: Adaptive wireless audio designed to balance quality and connection stability.

• aptX Lossless: Lossless transmission at up to CD quality when the source device and connection conditions support it.

• LC3 and Auracast: Support for newer Bluetooth audio capabilities.

Actual performance depends on the transmitting device, codec compatibility and wireless conditions. For a direct digital connection, USB-C remains an important option for listeners seeking reliable lossless playback.

Active noise cancellation and Active Analogue mode

The Solitaire T Pro features active noise cancellation (ANC) to reduce distracting background noise. Its electronics also provide a transparency function, allowing external sounds to be heard when required.

A particularly interesting feature is Active Analogue mode. This allows the headphone to receive an analogue signal through a wired connection while retaining selected electronic functions, including ANC and volume adjustment.

It offers a useful compromise for listeners who prefer a wired source but do not want to give up the convenience features of a modern premium headphone.

Studio Pro mode, by contrast, prioritises the dedicated ESS signal path and operates without active noise cancellation.

Premium aluminium construction and two distinctive finishes

T+A continues its understated design approach with machined aluminium earcups, bead-blasted and anodised surfaces, and a folding construction intended to make transport easier.

The Solitaire T Pro is available in two finishes.

Nightflight combines a predominantly black appearance with dark grey and silver accents. Its restrained design reflects the technical character of T+A's high-end audio products.

Riviera offers a lighter aesthetic, combining cream-coloured surfaces with rich cognac-brown details for a warmer and more distinctive appearance.

The headphone weighs approximately 336 g. New synthetic leather ear pads are designed to provide comfort, although long-term comfort will naturally depend on individual fit and listening habits.

Battery life and charging

The Solitaire T Pro offers up to 50 hours of battery life, depending on usage. In Studio Pro mode, the specified battery life is approximately 25 hours.

This is less than the original Solitaire T, which was rated for up to 70 hours, but remains substantial for a headphone offering this range of electronic features.

The built-in 1,200 mAh battery can be fully recharged via USB-C in approximately two hours.

T+A Solitaire T Pro: Price and availability

The T+A Solitaire T Pro is announced at €1,590, with initial deliveries scheduled to begin at the end of October 2026.

Two finishes are available: Nightflight and Riviera.

Its positioning places it firmly in the premium headphone segment, where sound quality, materials, wireless performance and advanced listening features are increasingly expected to work together.

Our perspective: One headphone for music and immersive entertainment

The Solitaire T Pro represents an evolution of the original concept rather than a complete departure from it. T+A retains the 42 mm cellulose driver and the flexibility of wired and wireless operation, while introducing a new ESS DAC, Studio Pro mode, updated Bluetooth connectivity and Dolby Atmos with head tracking.

For dedicated music listening, the Studio Pro mode and passive wired operation will be particularly relevant. For everyday use, ANC, wireless codecs and spatial audio make the headphone more versatile.

The real-world sonic differences compared with the original Solitaire T will ultimately need to be established through listening. Nevertheless, the Solitaire T Pro clearly aims to bring audiophile listening and modern entertainment together in one premium product.
