T+A Solitaire T Pro: Audiophile Sound Meets Immersive Audio
With the Solitaire T Pro, German high-end audio specialist T+A takes its successful Solitaire T concept to the next level. This new premium headphone combines carefully engineered acoustics with upgraded electronics, advanced wireless connectivity and immersive spatial audio technologies.
Designed for demanding music lovers, the Solitaire T Pro is equally suited to focused listening at home, wireless listening on the move and enjoying compatible films and entertainment. Its versatility is built around a simple idea: modern convenience should complement, rather than replace, high-fidelity sound reproduction.
A 42 mm cellulose diaphragm driver
At the heart of the Solitaire T Pro is a 42 mm dynamic driver featuring a cellulose diaphragm. T+A has refined the driver's peripheral damping to help control unwanted reflections and resonances.
The aim is a natural tonal balance, precise detail and a coherent musical presentation across different genres.
The headphone can also operate in passive wired mode, with its electronics switched off. T+A specifies a frequency response of 4 Hz to 45 kHz in passive mode and 4 Hz to 22 kHz when the electronics are active.
This flexibility makes the Solitaire T Pro appealing to listeners who value both traditional wired listening and the freedom of wireless operation.
Studio Pro mode with ESS Sabre DAC
One of the key upgrades is Studio Pro mode, designed for listeners who want to prioritise music reproduction.
The Solitaire T Pro incorporates an ESS ES9219 Sabre digital-to-analogue converter and a dedicated amplification stage. In Studio Pro mode, the digital signal is converted and amplified through this ESS circuit, while active noise cancellation is disabled.
T+A also uses fully analogue volume control in this mode. This avoids the loss of effective digital bit depth that can occur with certain digital volume attenuation methods.
Studio Pro therefore provides a dedicated listening option for music lovers who value a carefully designed signal path and minimal reliance on additional processing.
Dolby Atmos and head tracking
The Solitaire T Pro extends beyond conventional stereo listening with Dolby Atmos support and head tracking.
With compatible content, the headphone can create a more enveloping, three-dimensional sound presentation. Head tracking responds to movements of the listener's head, helping to establish a more stable spatial impression.
This technology is particularly interesting for films, series and compatible music. Although it does not replace a physical multichannel loudspeaker system, it offers a more immersive alternative through headphones.
The result depends on the source material, playback device and processing used.
Bluetooth 6.0 and advanced audio codecs
The Solitaire T Pro features an updated Qualcomm Bluetooth platform supporting Bluetooth 6.0 and several advanced audio codecs.
-
LDAC: High-bitrate Bluetooth audio transmission.
-
aptX Adaptive: Adaptive wireless audio designed to balance sound quality and connection stability.
-
aptX Lossless: Lossless transmission up to CD quality when the source device and connection conditions support it.
-
LC3 and Auracast: Support for newer Bluetooth audio capabilities.
The actual listening experience depends on the transmitting device, codec compatibility and wireless conditions. USB-C provides an additional wired digital connection for compatible sources.
Active noise cancellation and Active Analogue
Active noise cancellation (ANC) helps reduce distracting background noise, making the Solitaire T Pro suitable for travel and other noisy environments.
A transparency function also allows external sounds to be heard when needed.
The Active Analogue mode is another notable feature. It allows the headphone to receive an analogue signal through a wired connection while retaining selected electronic functions, including ANC and volume adjustment.
This combines the advantages of a traditional analogue source with the convenience features expected from a modern premium headphone.
Studio Pro mode takes a different approach, prioritising the dedicated ESS signal path with ANC switched off.
Premium aluminium construction
The Solitaire T Pro reflects T+A's understated design philosophy. Its earcups are made from machined aluminium with bead-blasted and anodised surfaces. The folding design makes the headphone easier to carry and store.
New synthetic leather ear pads are intended to provide a comfortable fit during extended listening sessions.
Two finishes are available:
Nightflight combines black surfaces with dark grey and silver accents for a restrained, technical appearance.
Riviera pairs cream-coloured surfaces with rich cognac-brown details for a warmer, more distinctive look.
The headphone weighs approximately 336 g. Comfort will naturally depend on individual fit and listening preferences.
Battery life and USB-C charging
T+A specifies up to 50 hours of battery life, depending on operating conditions. In Studio Pro mode, the stated battery life is approximately 25 hours.
The integrated 1,200 mAh battery can be fully recharged via USB-C in around two hours.
Although the maximum battery life is lower than the original Solitaire T's stated 70 hours, it remains substantial for a headphone offering this range of electronic features.
