Spendor is a renowned British brand known for its meticulous design and manufacturing of loudspeakers. With a rich heritage of innovation and acoustic engineering, the company has established itself as one of the leading names in the Hi-Fi world.
All Spendor loudspeakers are crafted in their South Yorkshire factory, with components and cabinets developed in-house. This approach ensures exceptional build quality and unparalleled sonic transparency.
Thanks to their seamless integration into various Hi-Fi systems, Spendor speakers deliver a natural and immersive musical experience. Their elegant and understated design allows them to blend effortlessly into any living space, achieving the perfect harmony of aesthetics and performance.
The story of Spendor begins with Spencer Hughes, a talented BBC engineer in the 1950s and 1960s. Dissatisfied with the studio monitors available at the time, he developed the BC1 (Bextrene Cone MK1) – a revolutionary speaker that significantly improved sound reproduction in BBC studios.
The BC1 set new standards for midrange tonal accuracy and natural voice and music reproduction. It was quickly adopted by the BBC and broadcasting institutions worldwide, becoming the absolute reference in the audio industry.
The name Spendor itself is derived from the first names of Spencer and Dorothy Hughes, reflecting their dedication to this extraordinary project.
Spendor loudspeakers stand out for their uncompromising attention to detail and state-of-the-art acoustic technology. Some key design features include:
All loudspeakers are manufactured in the Sheffield factory, ensuring full control over design and quality. The real wood veneers give the speakers a timeless elegance.
Spendor offers three main series of loudspeakers, each tailored to different sonic preferences:
The A-Line series, known for its timeless design and excellent price-performance ratio, has recently been upgraded to the A-Line V2 version. This series brings significant improvements in sound precision and bass control.
Spendor remains true to its classic design philosophy, with clean lines and understated aesthetics. The only visual novelty in the new A-Line floorstanding models is the black base plate, which adds a subtle accent.
The speakers are available in four refined wood finishes:
Walnut, Light Oak, Black Oak, and Satin White.
The series includes four models:
All models feature a two-way design, with increasing internal volume to allow deeper bass response as you move up the range.
Each model in the new A-Line V2 has been optimized by Spendor to achieve better resonance control and transient response:
Prices for the new series are expected to range between €2,000 and €5,000 per pair, with optional magnetic speaker grilles available.
The models AW1 (wall-mounted speaker), AC1, and AC2 (center speakers) remain unchanged in the catalog.
With constant advancements in acoustic engineering, Spendor continues to deliver loudspeakers that provide natural, transparent, and captivating sound reproduction.
Whether you prefer the analytical clarity of the D-Line, the warm richness of the Classic Series, or the balanced dynamics of the A-Line – Spendor has the perfect solution for every music lover.
