Transrotor ZET 1: A Jewel of Analog Playback
T+A's brand new streaming DAC preamplifier has finally been launched after a year's delay. The PSD 3100 HV couldn't be released as originally planned because the processor on its streaming circuit board was removed. Instead of releasing it with a temporary solution, T+A decided to use another chip and integrate its own 3rd generation streaming architecture. Even if it's late, the wait should be worth it.
This streaming architecture includes all the usual services (such as Apple AirPlay, Amazon Music, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect) for streaming directly from your phone to your T+A device. It also allows you to stream DSD files directly via the streaming client. From this summer, it will be integrated into the HV and R series multi-source players, and owners of existing modules in these series will be able to install it later (priced at €495 / $650 for the R series and €595 / $780 for the HV series - international prices to be confirmed).
The PSD 3100 HV also features a full range of inputs: AES-EBU, BNC, Coax, TOS-Link, USB DAC, USB host (HDD), HDMI, Antenna, LAN and WLAN.
T+A's R 2500 R music player has a similar streaming architecture. T+A claims that it has the same performance potential as the separate components in the R series. In addition to streaming capabilities, it incorporates a CD player, DAB+, FM, FM-HD and Internet radio, as well as analogue, digital and HDMI inputs.
Despite its size, it should be able to control even the most difficult loudspeakers thanks to its preamp and Class AB output stage technology (the same as the T+A PA 2500 R). It delivers 2 x 250w of continuous power at 4 Ohms, and will go on sale at the end of the summer for €14990.
