Transrotor ZET 1: A Jewel of Analog Playback
A Noble Ambition:
This headphone-DAC amplifier set was born out of a fierce desire: to offer the best possible combination in terms of sound reproduction. T+A has relied on its in-house expertise to design planar-magnetic transducers for the headphones and True 1 Bit N/A conversion circuits and class A amplification stages for the HA200 amplifier.
The HA200: Power and Precision
Housed in a massive extruded aluminum case, the HA200 incorporates separate transformers for the digital and analog stages, ensuring optimal isolation. It supports PCM signals up to 32 Bit/768 kHz and DSD 1024, well beyond the currently available sources. The PCM and DSD circuits are processed separately by dedicated converters, offering exceptional precision and musicality.
The HA200 amplifier is not just a simple headphone amplifier. It also features a tone control, filters, a choice of headphone impedance, a crossfeed system, and much more. To top it off, it can be used as a preamplifier converter with a special XLR-4 to RCA cable.
The Solitaire P Headphones: Exceptional Construction
The Solitaire P headphones stand out with their large planar transducers and 19 neodymium magnets. The membrane, on which a conductive meander of a few microns thick is printed, offers sound reproduction of rare precision and finesse. The pure copper and silver link cable is interchangeable and terminates in a classic 6.35 mm jack or a 4.4 Pentaconn balanced plug.
Sublime Listening
After about twenty minutes of warm-up time necessary for class A amplifiers, the HA200 is ready to transport you into a world of unprecedented listening. In comparison, most headphones suddenly seem limited, lacking openness, transparency, or linearity. The Solitaire P, on the other hand, stands out for its absolute neutrality and incredibly accurate transcription.
T+A announces a bandwidth of 5 Hz to 54 kHz for the headphones and 0.1 Hz (!) to 200 kHz for the amplifier. The Bessel analog filter can be set to cut frequencies at 60 kHz or 120 kHz, well beyond human hearing. The DAC response can also be adjusted using 4 pre-set curves and tone and loudness controls.
A Justified Investment
The weight of the headphones (530 g) is its only notable flaw, but it is largely compensated for by its exceptional comfort. The HA200 is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished and musical DAC amplifiers on the market.
The Solitaire P and HA200 set represents a significant investment, but it is fully justified by the quality of construction, performance, and unique listening experience it offers.
Conclusion
T+A has achieved a real feat with this headphone-DAC amplifier set. The Solitaire P and HA200 position themselves as the absolute reference for the most demanding audiophiles.
