Nagaoka MP-100: the gateway to the MP series

The MP-100 is the entry-level model in Nagaoka's MP series and the most affordable way to experience its Moving Permalloy generator. Instead of a magnet fixed to the back of the cantilever, a much lighter permalloy element moves, while the magnets and coils remain fixed in the body. This reduces the moving mass and allows the stylus to follow the groove more freely, while still maintaining the high output of a compatible MM cartridge. With a 5mV input, it connects directly to any MM phono input.

Sound signature and everyday use

The MP-100 combines a 0.6 mil conical stylus, bonded to a diamond, with a lightweight aluminum alloy cantilever. This classic profile proves to be forgiving and versatile: it is suitable for listening to an entire collection, including older or imperfect records, and remains very easy to adjust. The sound is orthodox and natural, with excellent overall coherence and no exaggeration, making for enjoyable everyday listening.
