Nagaoka HSAL-01: the headshell designed for the Jeweltone series

The HSAL-01 is a universal aluminum headshell made in Japan by Nagaoka. Developed to perfectly complement the Jeweltone JT-80 series cartridges, it also accommodates any standard half-inch mount cartridge, including models in the MP series. It mounts on any tonearm equipped with an SME-type bayonet connection and allows for cartridge changes in seconds.

Design and everyday use

Its aluminum body weighs only about 6.8 g, excluding mounting screws, allowing for considerable flexibility in tonearm balancing. The oblong mounting holes enable precise adjustment of the cartridge overhang, and the included wires provide ample slack for this adjustment. The angled tonearm lift offers excellent visibility of the stylus when placing it on the groove, and the gold-plated contacts ensure a reliable connection over time.
