With the TMD bearing, we decouple the motor from the platter. The belt drives a sub-platter which is then connected to the main platter by three strong pairs of magnets [in red and green in the graph below - photos].

By means of a vertical axis, the upper and lower units of this bearing developed by Transrotor are connected to each other only for guidance purposes. Each of the two bearing elements contains a defined number of magnets that ensure a constant distance, but above all transmit the rotational movement of the lower part of the bearing driven by the motor. Vibrations, which are already dampened by the force-transmitting round belt, are even more permanently suppressed by this TMD design.

The TMD bearing consists of two halves. The lower half is attached to the axle and driven by the belt. The upper half rests on ball bearings to support the plate.

The coupling between the two halves is magnetic by means of small but very powerful built-in neodymium magnets, which are properly shielded to avoid exposing the cartridge to their radiating fields. When the motor rotates the lower half, the magnetic field takes the upper half with it.
